Actiontec Ethernet over Coax MoCA Adapter - Single Review

I used this device to connection to my FIOS Actiontec router, and without a few comments from people here, you'd never get this to work properly.
First, the "quick instructions" (the only instructions as it turns out) assume that you are using a pair of these only to create an ethernet bridge over your coax. Thus, using this to connect to your FIOS router, the instructions are nonsensical.
Second, without instructions, you'll conclude you put this in between your coax cable and set top box. This will not work, even though this is apparently the way it's supposed to work. You'll get interference on your TV, things won't work, and you'll be ready to throw it in the box and return it.
In reality, you take the cable from the wall jack and get it into a coax splitter. One split goes to the set top box, the other to the device. You connect the ethernet jack to the device, and you're up and working.
If you go to Actiontec's site, they have no instructions how this will work with an Actiontec's FIOS router, despite the fact that this is probably the best use of the device!.
Anyway, once you get it hooked up, as other have said, you don't configure anything. It just works.
So it's a great product, hampered by no instructions for many people, and no help on the web site.

I was having trouble with the quality of some of my cable channels, so I got this cable to replace the stuff that was ran by the previous owners. It cleared up my channels very well. For the longer runs across the house I chose the triple shielded. Solid easy to twist on connectors.

I needed a longer cable from my cable tv outlet to the cable box. This one works fine. My only quibble with it is that the photo showed a white cable which would have looked better against my white wall. But the one I received is black. Not a big problem though.

Motorola Signal Booster 1-Port Cable Modem TV HDTV Amplifier with Active Return Cable Modem Boost Review

The product details don't make it clear that this is the product is actually the "BDA-K1/PS/RA" which means it includes a power supply. No coax cables are provided, and you will need at least one to connect the power supply, as well as another to connect the amp wherever you are inserting it in your system (typically as early as possible where the cable enters your premises).
The warning about not using an active return amp unless your upstream signal level is above 50dBmV is an ok rule of thumb; I would probably suggest that if you are above 45dBmV then it may be worthwhile. However, you should also be concerned about the downstream power level since equipments' tolerance for downstream power is typically much narrower (e.g., -12 to +12dBmV) and this amp gives a +15dBmV boost. You should not use this amp unless the downstream power level is less than -3dBmV.
Also, it may be a problem in your dwelling that different branches have different numbers of splits and, while the amp brings one branch into balance, another branch gets taken out of the optimum range. In that case, you can buy attenuators like In-Line Attenuator 3 dB to bring down the power levels on such a branch.
