(More customer reviews)If you shlep a heavy laptop on trips just to get your email, do a little bit of web browsing or write some notes, this is for you. You just put the Jornada in your pocket or briefcase and attach the phone cable to its handy built in modem. The battery lasts so long (sometimes 8 hours) that you can travel for several days without even taking the power adapter. The whole system weighs only about 1 lb. The keyboard is OK but might be problematic if you have fat fingers.
Although you can download Word or PowerPoint documents from your desktop and carry them around, the graphics are not good enough for technical presentations. However if you use mainly plain text and your PowerPoint presentations are mainly big pie charts and so on, this is another great feature. I found out that HP sells a VGA adapter card for the Jornada. This little plug in card lets you download your MS PowerPoint presentation into the little travel computer and then output it to a VGA monitor or projector with graphics up to 768x1024. So not only can I carry the Jornada on trips to get my email, but I can also download my presentation (up to about 16 MB) and output it to the client's projector or monitor. Since the presentation comes from the computer's memory, it is very fast. Great!

When it's plugged in, the screen lights up, but it apparently isn't charging. Have Motorola deliberately changed the pin configuration to make people buy their (much more expensive) cable?

(More customer reviews)After doing a lot of research on EPAD vs. IPAD, I bought this for the family as a Christmas present, even though it arrived 3 weeks after the holidays. Overall, I'm really pleased with it. My OOBE (Out of Box Experience) was fantastic. Yes, I agree with another review that the manual is minimal and poorly written. But being already experienced with Android devices (my Droid X), navigating this EPAD is a breeze. I've had it about a month now and no problems. I'm not a techno junkie, just an average consumer who appreciates the technology.
PROS
* The Price is Right on Amazon via Chinese vendor -- half the cost of the Archos 101 and IPAD.
* Android Market apps work just fine and plenty of free ones
* All email accounts work perfectly, including my corporate enterprise email account + Cox.net (which doesn't synch at all on my Droid X!)
* I purchased a 16GB storage card via Amazon and it works fine
* Text is crisp and sharp while reading Ebooks on Kindle.
* The kids are having fun with the games we downloaded on Market
* The WiFi device has been working well (was nervous about other reviews here really upset that WiFi can't stay connected with these more inexpensive EPADS). I live in a 4200 sq foot house with the router downstairs and booster upstairs. Consistently getting 3 bars around the house. And it's not automatically disconnecting itself intermittently, as I've read on so many reviews. Yes, I have to re-set WiFI setting if device has been inactive overnight but that's not a big deal.
CONS (minor annoyances, not gripes)
* This is not an IPAD or Samsung Galaxy experience (but then again, I'm not tied to Steven Jobs on price or Verizon/Sprint contracts for Samsung). Yes, its processor is not lightning fast like Galaxy and its graphics are not stunning like IPAD. But I'd be happy to buy 3 of these for the price of a Galaxy or IPAD.
* Battery life only 2-3 hours. Slightly annoying but I just keep a power source nearby if I'm staying on the EPAD for any length of time.
* The keyboard isn't calibrated for quick, clean typing. Short email responses are fine but don't expect to write novella-style emails on this device.
* You can't pinch the Web browser screen for zooming like IPAD and Droid X but a minor annoyance to me as screen size and zoom control makes up for it.
I have yet to really look under the hood of this EPAD and plan to join a few Android forums to see how to speed up the processor via Firmware update, if possible, among other tweaks. For now, as a casual user of the EPAD, it's been a great experience.

I've tried charging my LG smart phone with it, both attached to a computer USB port and the home charging unit and in either case it does not charge the phone, where the other cable does that came with the phone does. I've even borrowed a micro-USB / USB cable from a friend with a Blackbery and that cable worked while this does not. Contacted the seller about a week ago and have had no response. Don't waste the small amount of money on buying this!!!

(More customer reviews)People are expecting too much out of this device. It's not an ipad. It's a glorified alarm clock with apps. It is a great alarm clock that keeps time even after the power goes out. Most clocks would lose time but not this device it automatically reconnects to the router to reset time. Also if power is kept on and the internet is turned off it still keeps time so if your like me and your internet is spotty at times the clock will keep time even without internet access. I love listening to Pandora on it. The speakers are plenty powerful to rock out while playing some video games. Also there are 1000's of apps to download with many categories to cover. You can download weather, educational,sports,news,video game apps, and even different looking clock designs. I have facebook, espn, netflix, and Youtube myself on the dash. You can either look at them when you want or have them cycle through on a predestined loop. The touchscreen is responsive and it has a nice looking screen for watching videos. Also you can plug in usb devices and play music and videos on the dash from them. You can even link Pandora or other music apps to alarms so you wake up to your favorite tunes. One problem I had was linking my Netflix and Facebook accounts but with the help of the excellent and free Sony customer support I figured it out in no time. I am very happy with this device and plan on buying another for my other room. If your looking for an alarm clock with benefits then pick up this great device.

Note that the cord that came with the phone plugs in smoothly and securely. That's my general-use cord now; this one is relegated to overnight charging where the phone isn't being used.

(More customer reviews)First of all, I would like to state that the product picture used on this page is NOT the product that you will receive. the first 2 images show a standard archos 5 cable inserted into an archos while the third and images show a completely different product.
Now onto how this cable actually works. The cable itself is of good quality and the tip removal works nicely with the archos snap in plug, although it can be a nuisance if it becomes removed while charging.
At first I was having problems with getting it to connect to my computer properly but after fiddling with it I've managed to get it to work. make sure you have the removable bit fully inserted (it will snap) before connecting it to your computer.
It works well as a replacement cable just make sure the removal bit is properly inserted and know that the cable is not the same as the one that comes with the archos 5
