This thing is incredibly flat, it basically disappears behind a mounted TV. I hardly even notice it when I walk by my mounted TV. This is the best surge protector to use if you want to mount your TV on a wall.

Surge Protector, 6 Outlet, 3 MOV, EMI & RFI with Modem Protector, 25 ft cord Review

Surge Protector, 6 Outlet, 3 MOV, EMI and RFI with Modem Protector, 25 ft cord

Short and simple surge protectors are a dime a dozen but RFI surge protectors are not so easy to find. In my home town no one sells one so I ordered from a vendor via Amazon.com. It arrived as advertised quick delivery and a Longggggggg cord. Did it reduce my computer hash etc. on the sound system radio? Yes, all gone. So much of the stuff we buy these days is RF hash filthy and this RFI surge protector does offer a noticeable degree of isolation -15 to -30 db. simple as that. The FCC allows anything goes these days. This is my second unit the other is on my Ham radio equipment - same good results. Now I can have my radios and PC on at the same time. Of course that is metal case PCs / radios with 3 prong (case is ground) AC plug.

BlueAnt Mini USB Charging USB 2.0 Data Cable for your Phone This professional grade custom cable outperforms the original Review

BlueAnt Mini USB Charging USB 2.0 Data Cable for your Phone This professional grade custom cable outperforms the original
Average Reviews:

I ordered the Blue Ant X5i from Shopcell - an Amazon market place vendor. While the product was delivered promptly enough, alas - it wouldn't even switch on.
My first step was to call "BLUEANT" customer support (North America) . After a moderate wait I was able to get a live support rep. We went over diagnostics, but within the first minute of the call, his question was "How much did you pay for this product?"..When I answered $30 on Amazon.com - his response was " Must have been refurbished! - send it back to the seller!!"....When I mentioned the description says - brand new and it arrived in new packaging his answer didn't change.
At this point - it became pretty obvious that he'd lost all interest in the call and wanted to just get me off the phone...
Then I asked about their product warranty - I even have a product warranty card - he said, "call the seller first or return it to them!"....
What kind or condescending product support/warranty is this - product support has no business asking about product price...
I highly doubt their product warranty means anything to them or - or even if they will stand behind it.
Their product support and brand standards are probably just like their product - substandard and indifferent
Unfortunately I can't give them less than 1 star

SMC7004VWBR Barricade Cable/DSL router w/ 4-port 10/100Mbps and 802.11b 11 Mbps Access Point Review

SMC7004VWBR Barricade Cable/DSL router w/ 4-port 10/100Mbps and 802.11b 11 Mbps Access Point
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been putting off the purchase of a router for a while now, but after my ISP was irked at the fact that I was logging in with two simultaneous PPPoE connections using an old hub, I really had no choice.
My college offers wireless access on campus, and I had already purchased an 802.11b card, but I didn't think I'd really have a need for wireless access at home. In fact, I was looking for a wired router at first, until I found the SMC7004VWBR on another site (before Amazon began offering it).
I had read many of the reviews about Linksys, D-Link, and Netgear products, and SMC was the one that had fewer complaints. I was skeptical at first considering I had purchased it for $98 including a $10 rebate, and figured that perhaps I would end up getting what I paid for. After about 3 weeks, I haven't had anyting to complain about yet.
The router's features include Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Denial of Service (DoS) protection, email alerts, parental control, integrated Virtual Private Network (VPN) pass-through support, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and hacker logging options. Turn on the email alerts and you'll see several alerts in your inbox everyday.
Setup was a breeze. I merely plugged in my desktop into one of the 4 wired ports, plugged in my DSL modem into the WAN port, and accessed the IP address specified in the manual. (The manual is provided on the included CD as well as online).
Even though the quick-start guide asks you to use the CD to set up your connection, you can go ahead and access the setup page via your web browser, as what type of operating system you're using is irrelevant and you don't need any kind of software loaded on your computer.
The setup includes both a quick EZ version (as in 3 clicks and you're done), and a more advanced version. I first used the quick setup just to make sure everything worked, but I then went into the advanced setup to set up my wireless encryption, firewall and NAT settings, etc. The setup page also includes a nice help file that will explain any terms you're not familiar with.
Performance has been exceptionally good. The signal doesn't fade too much as I travel from room to room in my house with my laptop.
Perhaps my only complaint is that there is no easy way to mount it on the wall (although aspiring engineers like myself will find a way).
Overall I think this is one of the best purchases I've made so far, and recommend this to budget-minded (read: college students) individual looking for a feature-rich router with wireless capabilities.

The Barricade wireless cable/DSL broadband router (SMC7004VWBR) is a platform-independent multifunctional router that combines a 4-port 10/100 Mbps dual-speed switch, an 802.11b wireless access point, Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall security, network management, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) pass-through support in one convenient device.
The wireless Barricade router is the first router in its class to offer an integrated SPI firewall. This firewall provides protection against hacker invasions--such as Denial of Service attacks--by analyzing individual data packets as they pass through the Barricade, to ensure that only authorized packets are allowed access to the network. To control network access, parents or business owners can block certain Web sites by entering either a URL or just a keyword of a Web site. In addition to these incredible features, this addition to the Barricade family provides hacker prevention and logging functionalities; for example, when a hacker attempts to access your network, the Barricade can alert you via e-mail so you can take appropriate action.
The wireless Barricade provides a 10/100 Mbps WAN port for high-speed integration into your network. Supporting NAT, the Barricade can provide simultaneous Internet access for up to 253 PCs using a single, purchased IP address. To manage these connections, the Barricade has a built-in DHCP server to auto assign IP addresses to devices on your network. To install this device, simply place the EZ 3-Click Installation CD into your CD-ROM drive and in minutes you will be surfing the Web. Using the Web-based management system you can configure this router to handle IP routing and port forwarding through the virtual server option. For additional management, this router also has a full-featured access control option. The integrated feature allows you to filter traffic through your network based on IP and MAC address.
For wireless connectivity, the wireless Barricade supports 802.11b communication at data rates of 1, 2, 5.5, and 11 Mbps. To secure this wireless connection, the Barricade supports MAC address filtering and both 64- and 128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). This integrated wireless technology allows you to connect to your network from up to 1,000 feet away.
SMC's Barricade wireless cable/DSL broadband router is a comprehensive networking solution for PC, Mac, and Linux users, and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. Combine all of these features, functionality, and affordability with SMC's award-winning technical support and service, and you have the perfect network device for any situation.

Siemens SpeedStream 2-Port DSL/Cable Router (SS2602) Review

Siemens SpeedStream 2-Port DSL/Cable Router (SS2602)
Average Reviews:

Bad:
Product comes in a plastic shell - be very very careful that you don't drop this puppy. Came with a CD (useless). Hardcoded default class C mask 255.255.255.0
Good:
Came with a very helpful single page quick start guide. Web browser configuration made this set up really painless and quick. Although package do not state much, this does pack a bunch in a small size.
My Experience:
I updated the firmware from the manufacturer's web. Then selected default security setting to block off unwanted probing. Then I went to port scanning... This ... is STEALTH! Nada! Zilch! It doesn't even respond to SYN-flood! What a firewall! This puppy works as screening router! Configured VPN (if you have static IP this really helps) to office, and what a difference from dial-up! And cloned MAC address on existing proxy server. Woww, this one rocks!
My PCs at home are on Win98SE, 2000, XP, Netware, and SMB on Linux. I wired one port to my switch using uplink port and other one to HP laser printer's MMIO card. All assigned DHCP and DNS from this small box! And I was able to customize DHCP and DNS ranges. Defined web server in the DMZ and enabled honeypot for those crackers out there.
I'd be surprised if someone hacks my Apache box now.

Average Reviews:

One of the lowest cost for a high end Cat 6 cable I have seen anywhere. Even taking into account the cost to be shipped to me, It is half what than the price a local retailer wanted ( Micro center )for a cat5e 50ft . It is like buying a Porsche for 1/2 the price of a VW . Cannot beat the deal on this. I asked the seller why the cost so low. The seller replied they are on clearance for below cost to sell them out quickly.
Their loss my gain.

Kensington 33050 8-Feet Retractable Phone Cord Review

Kensington 33050 8-Feet Retractable Phone Cord
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was not my first self retracting modem cable, but it was the best. Two features were key: the hub is lightweight, so it does not put stress on the cord when extended between the outlet and the computer; second, there is a ratchet mechanism which prevents the retraction spring constantly pulling the cord taut.
The result is that once you pull the cord to the length you need, there is no tension in the cord. Another cable I tried had constant tension and a heavy retraction hub. It's plug connector to the computer was becoming frayed and so worn that it would not stay plugged in. The Kensington model did not have these problems.
Unfortunately, the Kensington cable abruptly stopped transmitting signal. I'm going to get another one, but this time I'm keeping my receipt for the warranty.
The only suggestion for improvement is that the have the hub at one end of the cord, rather than in the middle.

I received this item in record time and was impressed with how easy it was to use. It worked well with my Motorola cell phone. However, next time I will connect the phone to the power source prior to downloading to the computer. Other than that, it is a great buy! Also, it costs less going through the vendor I used rather than from the direct buyer I found online. I would definitely buy from this company again!

ZyXEL ZyWALL 5 Internet Security Firewall Appliance With 4 10/100 Fast Ethernet Ports and 10 IPSec VPN Tunnels Review

ZyXEL ZyWALL 5 Internet Security Firewall Appliance With 4 10/100 Fast Ethernet Ports and 10 IPSec VPN Tunnels
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased a Zywall 5 VPN server to replace an older Linux Freeswan solution. It took about a month to set up in my corporate environment, which likely differs greatly from the Zywall's intended configuration.
The Zywall 5 assumes that it is the default gateway to the Internet, and thus lacks the capability of answering ARP requests for its connected VPN clients (which are configured with virtual IP addresses in the same subnet as the LAN). The Linux Freeswan solution could be configured to answer ARP requests for connected VPN clients. Working around this problem required adding an additional network card to the internal LAN firewall, attaching the Zywall to that LAN card, and configuring the internal firewall to forward packets destined to the connected VPN clients directly to the Zywall. This was not as clean as the Linux Freeswan solution, but it worked.
The Zywall 5 supports X.509 VPN certificates, but requires that a certificate authority be set up on a Windows 2000 server to generate the appropriate certificates for the Zywall and VPN clients. This is a bit awkward to accomplish, considering that the same was possible with just a couple command line entries on the Linux Freeswan box.
It is easy to accidentally misconfigure the Zywall, such that the web and telnet interfaces are no longer accessible, requiring a connection with a serial cable to undo the settings. This happened more than once when trying to make the Zywall send packets back to attached VPN clients.
While the Zywall supports up to 10 simultaneous clients, there are severe limitations. Preshared keys cannot be used with road warrior connections (where the client's IP address changes with each connection). X.509 certificates can be used with road warrior connections, but the same client X.509 certificate must be used for all road warriors (this makes it hard to revoke a certificate should a laptop be stolen). The Zywall supports RADIUS authentication in addition to certificates, so that somewhat resolves the need to share certificates. Multiple road warriors can simultaneous connect using the same VPN rule configured in the Zywall.
The Zywall at my site sits behind an external routing firewall. Some of the Zywall's NAT features appear to be buggy in this configuration, directing return VPN packets at the external routing firewall, rather than to the connected VPN client's IP address.
Bandwidth limitation capabilities help prevent attached VPN clients on high speed cable or DSL connections from completely saturating the corporate Internet connection.
Based on my experience with configuring Linux IPTABLES firewalls on the Freeswan box, the firewall on the Zywall is a challenge to set up correctly. Instead of referring to the encrypted network interface connection as IPSEC0 as on the Freeswan box, the Zywall uses verbose descriptions such as (LAN to LAN / Zywall), (LAN to WAN), (LAN to DMZ), (WAN to LAN), (WAN to WAN / Zywall), (WAN to DMZ), (DMZ to LAN), (DMZ to WAN), and (DMZ to DMZ / Zywall) - determining which setting to use in order to restrict traffic between the corporate LAN and a connected VPN client based on the documentation is difficult (even though the manual is 500+ pages). I had to disable the Zywall's firewall to resolve connectivity issues, and rely on the internal firewall to control traffic destined to connected VPN clients. Maybe if one of the verbose descriptions were labeled (LAN to VPN Client) it would be easier to set up the firewall.
The Zywall 5 supports time synchronization to Internet time servers, which is a required feature to keep the time from rapidly drifting from the correct time. Time synchronization is not always successful, nor does it always use the specified time server.
Once the device's limitations are determined, and it is set up to work around those limitations, the Zywall 5 performs very well for its intended purpose with clients using Safenet SoftRemote VPN software.
