Okay, this will be brief and is being posted only as helpful hint rather than an indepth review.
If your speeds are fine when directly connected to your ISP, but are slow or unstable when running through the RV082 try the following:
Under the firewall tab, there is an MTU setting. You MUST take this off of Auto and use the manual setting. In my case the default manual setting of 1500 is what I needed. This solved the incredible slowdown problems I was having - in fact now I have the best speeds I have ever seen on my network.
Thanks to "Lone Stranger" and the Google search in which I found his post for finally providing me with this answer after hours of frustration. No thanks to linksys email support, who was of no use at all.

Linksys by Cisco WRTP54G Wireless-G Broadband Router for Vonage Internet Phone Service Review

Linksys by Cisco WRTP54G Wireless-G Broadband Router for Vonage Internet Phone Service

I don't write reviews on products very often. I'm more of a passive observer when it comes to on-line products. But my experience from this device has led me to (or should I say forced me to) write this review!!! I've been a network engineer for 5 years and I've also been a long time owner of the Linksys BEF11WS4 which proved to be a very worthwhile investment. I also setup Vonage service for my mom's home and for well over a year been totally satisfied. So when I saw this product, I thought to myself obviously why not get this as it combines the two very satisfying experience I've had. And so the nightmare begins.
I've had problems from wireless dropouts to the router freezing to the phone port not working. I have no idea who made this but it sure doesn't seem like it has the Linksys quality that I've been used to. Thats where I learned that if you want support for this hardware you have to call Vonage, not Linksys. I don't know how Linksys/Cisco got their name on this thing but it doesn't seem like it is from them. Neither is the quality on par with Linksys nor is the support provided by them. I've tried upgrading the firmware (this is sometimes done for you automatically by Vonage), I've upgraded the driver on my laptop's wireless card, tried dozens of different configurations through the web interface. NOTHING!!! Still get wireless dropouts, router freezes, and headaches to top it off.
If you are bent on buying this device please do some research on the web about it. You will find a plethora of information on it from a few websites and you will see my frustration in many others. I kept the router as it seems like Vonage is pushing it very hard from a marketing standpoint so maybe a real fix will be coming soon. But I decided to buy the WRT54G model which from the first few minutes of setting it up I can tell that this is a true quality product from Linksys. One thing I noticed right away is that the WRT54G operates a lot cooler than the WRTP54G. And ofcourse its been solid in its performance so far. If you decide to buy this, good luck, you'll need it.

Alfa Network Router / Client Bridge 802.11g up to 400mW Review

Alfa Network Router / Client Bridge 802.11g up to 400mW
Average Reviews:

I am computer literate and live in an apartment that hates any number of wireless frequencies. The other reviews for this router made it appear to be a good compromise - difficulty in set-up in exchange for awesome signal strength.
Unfortunately I was unable to verify this as I never made it through the "set-up" process. The included documentation is sketchy, poorly laid-out, and very obtuse, and there is no simple walk-through for a home set-up. I've set up wireless networks before and have built my own computer, but I was completely defeated by this device. I do not recommend it except perhaps for the networking professional. Honestly, DO NOT BUY this product if that doesn't describe you.
I am only giving it two stars because it does seem to have good signal strength - and I'm hopeful that I'll be able to return it to DBROTH.

My wife uses this type work station at work. She asked me to research if we could buy one for use at home, because she can hook/link to her system at work from the house. I found this exact fit for her and it works perfect. We had no probelms with the installation and my wife is happy.

Hawking Technology Irouter Internet Gateway Ras Supports 2 Ext Modems/ISDN Ta Review

Hawking Technology Irouter Internet Gateway Ras Supports 2 Ext Modems/ISDN Ta
Average Reviews:

For those who need to share a dial-up connection, this hardware solution is a life saver. This box connects to the network via Ethernet, and is always ready to establish a connection. It is not necessary to have a 'connection sharing' computer always on to dial out. Physical installation was very simple: connect the box to the network and power, and connect a modem to it. The software is simple to install and configure if all you want to do is share a connection. It also offers very advanced features. It will stay in place even after I get a cable or DSL connection, as a back-up.

Sling Media SlingLink Turbo Powerline Kit ( SL200-100 ) Review

Sling Media SlingLink Turbo Powerline Kit ( SL200-100 )
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In a large (brand new 5-bedroom, 3500 sq ft house) it works pretty well. NOTE: my specific objective was to support a SlingBox (original) with cable Internet elsewhere in the house.
I've used SlingBox and SlingLink Turbo in two different configurations:
1. SlingBox connected directly to my router; SlingLink supporting other wired + wireless computers elsewhere in the house via a wireless router.
2. SlingLink connected the Internet and SlingLink broadcasting to SlingLink supporting my SlingBox and XBOX 360 as "slave" devices.
The first configuration is better (obviously) because SlingBox can "broadcast" up to a full 2.5Mbps over a LAN connection. The second configuration is better for everyday use since I get maximum Internet bandwidth on computers.
Findings:
1. Internet speed test dropped from 18-19Mbps down / 2.5Mbps up (Comcast w/ SpeedBoost) to 2100Mbps down / 800Kbps up.
2. SlingBox over SlingLink drops to 1.2Mbps (video quality is a bit choppy vs. perfectly smooth otherwise). I've had it spike to 1.6Mbps over the LAN.
3. Additionally SlingBox over the open Internet (original intended use) maxes out at 600kbps, which is a hair below what it was without SlingLink in the middle.
4. The only real "issue" with SlingLink is probably due to home wiring (i.e. on a semi-related note I had to re-wire every cable jack and replace the primary splitter that my electrical contractor originally installed because the cheap original hardware was so bad that ).
5. Newer SlingBoxes (AV/PRO/SOLO) may be more tolerant of "spotty" Ethernet connections, considering they have newer H.264 compression chips.
All in all I'm happy. Wireline Ethernet isn't perfect and would probably work a lot better in a condominium or smaller house. A larger house would/could justify multiple cable modems.

D-Link DI-824VUP Wireless Cable/DSL Router VPN, USB/Parallel Print Server 802.11g Review

D-Link DI-824VUP Wireless Cable/DSL Router VPN, USB/Parallel Print Server 802.11g
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The DI-824VUP is a very impressive device for the price, offering wireless routing for DSL, cable, and even dial up (through the integrated serial port) connections. The built in print server worked well with a HP 1100d Business Inkjet and a HP 895 printer using the built-in parallel port (USB functionality not tested). The wireless 802.11b/g offers various power levels up to 100mW, offering signal strength that rivals that of the Cisco 350 series wireless access points. The built in 4 port 10/100 switch worked without problem. The integrated DHCP server has the capability of always issuing the same IP address to a particular MAC address, which is necessary when using the virtual server settings of the DI-824VUP.
Had it not been for a couple bugs and/or limitations, I would have rated the device at 5+ stars. Problems and limitations experienced include the following:
* Attached printers eject a page with a single character at the top left every time the DI-824VUP restarts.
* The DI-824VUP must restart after making nearly any change to its configuration.
* The VPN functionality does not support X.509 certificates, preventing it from being used for corporate VPN connectivity.
* The VPN (IPSEC) pass-through does not work correctly - this feature must be disabled and a special application created on the DI-824VUP to allow UDP port 500 and 4500 packets to pass through, or a virtual server set up to forward those packets to a specific internal IP address, so that VPN client software on a computer can communicate through the DI-824VUP.
* The automatic modem backup occasionally did not dial out automatically (tested with a Zoom 56k external modem).
* The print server software did not recognize that I changed the subnet of the DI-824VUP (prior to the print server software install), requiring me to manually enter the correct IP address of the DI-824VUP on the client computer.
* The DI-824VUP worked as expected when the WAN port was directly connected to the corporate LAN (HP 4108GL gigabit), but would not allow traffic to pass through from a Speedstream 5100b DSL modem when connected in the same way. After setting the Speedstream modem to act as a bridge, and entering the PPPoE user name and password into the DI-824VUP, the DSL connection became available to devices attached to the DI-824VUP.
Nearly all limitations can be addressed using various combinations of the setting available from the web interface. For the cost, there are few devices on the market that offer similar capabilities.

D-Link introduces another breakthrough in wireless connectivity for the remote sales personnel, field representative, or telecommuter the DI-824VUP VPN wireless router. Allowing connection of up to four computers to share high-speed Internet connection, files and media content, the DI-824VUP provides protected access and connectivity. It also includes its own robust set of firewall security features preventing unwanted Internet intruders from accessing your private network. In addition, the DI-824VUP features a Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall which helps protect against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks such as SYN Flood, Spoofing, and Ping of Death.
