Lenovo ThinkPad Advanced Mini-Dock Port Replicator (250410U) Review

Lenovo ThinkPad Advanced Mini-Dock Port Replicator (250410U)

This Thinkpad Dock, built for the IBM Thinkpad T60, works very well - it is an excellent port replicator, short of the full-sized advanced dock by only 1 USB port and the expansion bays. The design is also a lot more attractive than that of the T-43 Port Replicator. There is an "undocking" system, but I usually, just eject the Thinkpad, without any ill effects to either the dock or my laptop. (The ejection process is annoying because my external hard drive sometimes does not stop immediately). My own wishes for this product are: 1) It included FireWire ports, and 2) It was cheaper. Just like all proprietary products, it sells for a lot more than it's worth.
Last note: The dock has these ports and features
4 USB 2.0
DVI
VGA
Ethernet
Phone jack
PS2
Serial
Microphone (Audio In)
Headphone (Audio Out)
S/PDIF
Power adapter
Lock
and couple more that I have no use for and will not even bother to look at. Full specs are at the company website.

Cables To Go 28652 USB 2.0 Laptop Docking Station with Video (Black) Review

This works beautifully and so much cheaper than my laptop manufactures (HP)docking station. I can do everything I wanted from a docking station "except" charge my laptop battery. I have hooked up a huge monitor, wireless keyboard, mouse & usb speakers (can hook up a printer also, I just have no need) and was HALF the price. It worked great straight out of the box but I did insert disk for drivers "just in case" and did run into a small problem when windows said installation failed but then Vista went right out to the internet and found the correct drivers and smooth sailing from then on. Now I can come and go from my desk with my laptop without having to plug & unplug everything each time ... just 1 vga/usb combo cord. Oh ... it IS vista 64 bit compatible and has it's own power supply. Glad I bought when I did, I see price has jumped almost 20.00 from what I paid just 10 days ago ... but it is definitely worth it!!!!!

This is the solution for laptop users who also like to use their laptop in the office, but don't like the hassle of connecting each device every time. With this station, connect all peripherals to the docking station, then use the included cable to connect the laptop to the dock. All your peripherals are now connected, with just one cable! This lets you come and go as you please without the hassle of repeatedly connecting and reconnecting devices to your laptop. This station contains a 3-port USB 2.0 hub, one serial DB9 port, one parallel printer port, one 10/100 RJ45 ethernet port, PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports, and a VGA pass-through port - all in just one unit! Connect your monitor, mouse, keyboard, printer, network, modem, and any USB 2.0 devices to the docking station for a convenient all-in-one connectivity solution. This docking station eliminates the clutter of cables connecting to your computer as it requires only a single VGA/USB combo cable. Additional USB hubs can be attached to allow you to daisy-chain up to 127 devices. Plug-and-play functionality eliminates the need to reboot during installation. This simple station makes desktop use of your laptop amazingly simple, convenient and, most importantly, inexpensive. This dock is designed as a 'universal" docking station. Due to the differing power requirements of different makes and models of laptop, providing power to the laptop is not a feature of our docking station. Our dock is designed to add an Ethernet port, a 9-pin Serial port, a 25-pin Parallel printer port, 2 PS/2 ports, a 3 port USB hub, and a VGA monitor pass through. Input: One DB9 RS-232 Serial Female, One DB25 Parallel Male (for IEEE-1284 bidirectional printers), Two PS/2 Female (for keyboard and mouse), One RJ45 Female, and One HD15 Male Output: Three USB Type A Female and One HD15 Female; The DB9 RS-232 serial connector supports baud rates from 1.2k to 115.2k; Complies with IEEE802.3u 100Base-TX and with IEEE802.3 10Base-T standards
